VW ID.4
The VW ID.4 is a bit cheaper than the Tesla with an entry-level price starting at around 40,000 euros and also comes with plenty of space and good range. Technically, the Volkswagen is state-of-the-art and as far as the appearance is concerned, of course, everyone has to decide for themselves what they like better. Now that the Tesla is getting a facelift, the older ID.4 is more of a classic variant.
Renault Scenic E-Tech
The Renault Scenic E-Tech makes a very modern impression and is also spacious and also suitable for families. From 41,000 euros you can get away cheaper than with the Model Y and if you choose the version with an 87 kWh battery, the range is really good. You get more trunk volume than in the ID.4 and also more than in the Tesla. If you want, you can also order the Renault as an all-wheel-drive version and have the choice between 170 and 218 hp of power – the Tesla leaves the Frenchman behind.
BYD Seal U
Chinese electric cars are becoming increasingly popular, making the BYD Seal U an interesting alternative to the Model Y. The equipment is good, the warranty is long and the price-performance ratio is impressive. From a price of just under €43,000, it is close to the price of the Tesla. However, you have to do without all-wheel drive and engine selection and take what is offered.
Volvo EX40
If you are more into Scandinavian simplicity than American design, you can easily go for the Volvo EX40. The Swedish electric SUV is the manufacturer's first all-electric car and is already doing a lot right. When it comes to safety and comfort, you can't go wrong with Volvo – but this also goes hand in hand with the fact that there is not much sportiness. You can get along well with the range, but that of the Tesla is out of the question.
